How to Wash and Care for Your Seamless Bras
Share
Seamless bras are made from a soft, stretchy nylon and elastane knit. Treat them gently and they will keep their shape, colour and stretch for a long time. Here is how.
Washing
- Hand wash in cool water with a gentle detergent. Swish gently and soak for a few minutes rather than scrubbing.
- Fasten the hooks first so they do not snag the fabric.
- If you use the machine, use a mesh laundry bag and a cold, gentle cycle.
- Skip the fabric softener and bleach. They break down the stretch fibres over time.
Drying
- Never wring or twist. Gently press the water out, or roll the bra in a towel.
- Lay flat to dry, away from direct sun and heat. Smooth the moulded cups back into shape while they are damp.
- Avoid the dryer. Heat is the fastest way to lose stretch and shape.
Storing
- Store bras flat or with one cup tucked into the other, never folded in half, to protect moulded cups.
- Keep them separate from items with zips or hooks that could snag.
Wearing
- Rotate your bras. Giving each one a day off lets the elastic recover.
- Start on the loosest hook. As the band relaxes with wear, move to the tighter hooks.
When is it time for a new one?
If the band rides up even on the tightest hook, the fabric has lost its stretch, or the cups no longer hold their shape, it is time to replace it. With good care, though, your favourite bra will be with you for a long time.
